E3 floorplan published - it’s a cracker
May 20th, 2008 @ 06:42
Good Lord. ESA’s published the floorplan from this year’s E3, and anyone that went to the shows of yesteryear will be in for a shock. It looks more like one of the final stages of ECTS than the legendary LA convention. Just shocking. See the full plan after the link.

Well… at least your legs won’t get tired.

“Hi! Here are… all the games… we showed you in May.”

There must be some new games announced at this year’s event otherwise, what’s the flaming point?

Well, I reckon it still has value for the platform holders. It’s their chance to say to America, “This is what you can buy this Christmas.” Aside from that, there really isn’t much point at all. Of course, it’s still a valid press event, great for interviews and such, but in terms of “value” Leipzig trumps it because absolutely everything’s there due to the consumer interest. I’ll be very interested to see how E3 pans out this year.

Many people are geared up for more game announcements. Internet am cry, I reckon.

I’ve given up on anything amazing being announced at any of these shows, tbh. The last few years I’ve gotten all geared up for goodness and then… nothing! Everything that gets shown has already blown its cover weeks (if not months) before. It’s the curse of the internets, innit.

There will be some, sure, but mainly from the platform holders. Honestly, look at that plan. Apart from Atari, SOE and Disney, every one of those bigger publishers in the lower block will have fuller announced their line-up for the rest of this year. Sony and Microsoft have already announced everything until the end of Q1 09, when they’ll hold more solus events. I reckon the best you’re going to see from E3 is updated impressions on all the big games, some big interviews (Hirai, etc) and a few first looks (maybe some of the new Sony stuff will make it). Seriously, I bet it’s flat as a pancake.

Hopefully Microsoft and Sony will have nice, fat price cuts for us instead.

Harry: That pretty much says it all, really.
