Microsoft extending XBLA file limit to 350Mb
May 20th, 2008 @ 18:19
Speaking in this GI interview, David Edery - worldwide games portfolio planner for Xbox Live Arcade - has confirmed that the file-size for XBLA games it to be extended from 150Mb to 350Mb.
“Yeah, it’s a steady progress,” when asked if the new size was correct. “We’ve been listening to our partners, listening to our customers to try and get a feel for what’s right. We don’t want the size limit to hit the roof because we think there’s some value in promoting small pick and play experiences that don’t cost USD 20 million, it’s good for the ecosystem.”
Edery fell short, however, of confirming when the new limit would be put into effect.
Thanks, MaxConsole.

Maybe then that HD Street Fighter game can make a move along now. I heard that was being restrained by the limit.

Why don’t they just take the damn limit off instead of increasing it a little bit every time there’s a higher-profile game which doesn’t quite fit into it?

That’s what I’d like to know. It seems as if they have an insane amount of restrictions for XBLA (not quality of game though obviously).
How is it with XNA stuff?

XNA games are user-regulated, I think. So if you upload a porn game, “the community” will catch it and not allow it onto the service. No idea on file-size restrictions.

The Xbox comunity would stop me from putting porn on the network? Yeah right…

There may be some Microsoft input as well, obviously
