Xbox Live gay banning spreads to absurdity
May 21st, 2008 @ 10:41
According to this Kotaku piece, a UK gamer has had his GamerTag banned from Xbox Live because his name is Richard Gaywood. The GamerTag in question was the hugely inflammatory “RichardGaywood”.
This latest farce comes after a gay man had his GamerTag removed from the service for calling himself “thegayergamer”, a moniker that drew complaints from other “users”.
Microsoft, seriously. Please. Stop being so bloody stupid.

I wonder if my Gears of War 2-themed new gamertag idea, I_like_it_up_the_Derrick will be banned too?

It’s a really odd coincidence. I don’t doubt the guy, but still… lol

So, any wor on if they banned TheStraighterGamer yet?
May 21st, 2008 at 3:12 pm
They said previously that they would. No sexual references allowed at all, apparently.

Someone tried to make TheHeterosexualGamer but it wouldn’t let them.
I don’t know why they don’t just put all these sorts of words in the banned filter and be done with it. Saves us from more people whining online about stuff we’d have just dealt with if we all weren’t given a a podium to bitch from.
