id leaves ESA

id Software has become the latest company to quit the ESA, GamePolitics reports. No reason has been given for the decision, but the move will no doubt be seen as yet another nail in the organisation’s credibility. Activision, Vivendi and, most recently, LucasArts have all left the US trade body this year.

Is this all because they gimped E3, or is there some other reason for it?

Thing is… Activision is merging with Vivendi, LucasArts publish everything through Activision and all of id’s major stuff is published by Activision too. So although it’s 4 companies they are all sort of the same thing (Activision). Bigger news will be if any of the other top publishers follow suit - then it really will be game over.

Yeah, I guess so. Still, seems to be heading in the complete wrong direction.
