Gamespot faces off PS3 and 360 graphics
May 26th, 2008 @ 20:17
Gamespot has published a third 360/PS3 comparison article for those of you who like console hardware performance analysis.
They compare eight games including Cod4, Assassins Creed and GTA4.
“The PlayStation 3 generally lags behind the Xbox 360 in high-quality textures and the depth/normal maps that go with them,” it reads. “However, in the same games, the PlayStation 3 sometimes comes ahead with better shadowing and antialiasing.
“Overall, the PlayStation 3 outputs visuals that are either on par with the Xbox 360 or only slightly behind.”
So there we go. No-one won. Loads of screenshots and stuff about pixels and lighting through the link.

do we really need another flamebait ‘comparison’ that does nothing more desperately trying to find differences in images that are virtually identical? there isn’t a single fact in the entire thing.
gamespot really seems pretty desperate for hits now that all their credible staff has left…

What we really need is some sort of chart which tells us exactly how much less fun we will have when confronted with a slightly lower res texture!

Exactly. I’ll get on it!

How many times do we need to hear this? One machine is better at x another at y. We get it, now let’s move on please!

What? PS3 “better anti-aliasing”? I thought everyone always complained that it had much worse anti-aliasing than the 360?

I think they should mount both consoles on some wheels attach some spikes and put them on Robot Wars. Then we’ll see what’s the best.

I honestly don’t know what would happen to the internet if there was only one games console. There’d be a 50% traffic drop-off, I reckon.
