Famitsu scores MGS4 40/40
June 4th, 2008 @ 08:52
According to various reports, Famitsu’s given MGS4 a perfect score. The 40/40 mark is in the latest issue, and is only the seventh time the award’s been handed out in the magazine’s history, apparently.
We have to be honest: we watched some video footage of it this morning and it was as much as we could do to not run out and buy a PS3. Just saying, like.

They certainly love their money/advertising. Oops.

I change my mind on whether to buy a PS3 this weekend approx. every 30 seconds now. As we approach the 12th I expect my brain to reach some sort of critical mass and explode.

I’m definitely sweating now. Heart says yes, head says no.

Well, Play wont be giving me my gunmetal grey PS3 so I wont be getting one now until there’s a DS3 bundle. 1 game isn’t enough for me to back down on that one. =)
Not as if it’s going anywhere anyway and sadly (?) I already have too much to play. (Why am I complaining about that?)

I resisted for GTAIV, so MGS4 should be no problem.

Actually… that’s a lie. One game could be enough - but it would have to be LBP. =)

I keep wondering if I should import one of the DS3 bundles from the states. But I’m worried Sony would hunt me down and kill me if I did that. It would be like Hard Target, except with all the cool Cajun accents replaced with Dundonian.

The prospect of having a PS3 with Uncharted and MGS4 is really making me twitch, I have to say. And I know that if I don’t do it soon we’re going to be into the “big” period at the end of the year and it’ll be difficult to ever get around to playing them. Gawd.

Bah… Uncharted is over rated. Fun, but not the glorious wonder people made it out to be.
/raises fists in defence
But yeah, there’s obviously some stuff worth getting. I just decided that I wasn’t going to support Sony’s screwing of the European market. I’d still like to see a price cut and BC as well… but I know that’s not going to happen.

I never really bother reading reviews for these types of games. Mainly due to the fact reviews tend to be overly 10/10 happy. I wish had the money to get a ps3 and a hdtv and make my own opinion of the game
sadly I’m a jobless bum.

PT: Isn’t Uncharted quite short as well? It’s been put to me as the one true stand-out PS3 game so far. I had one guy dribbling on the phone about it at the time.
June 4th, 2008 at 9:47 am
It’s sub 10 hours… but that’s not unusual these days. I guess you could replay it for unlockables but I’m not sure why you’d want to unless you were starved for games.

Its supposed to be a really good game. I never really payed much attention too it though. As it gave off to much of a tomb raider vibe without the breasts.

Uncharted is one of the best games I’ve played this gen. Oozes high class production, and is great fun to play.
It’s one of the few games I really wouldn’t go without this gen.

*sweats more*

Uncharted is easily the best PS3 game to date.
June 4th, 2008 at 10:52 am
Ah, you don’t need one, Pat. Wait for the DS3 bundles.

morriss: But what does that mean? :p
Like I said though, it’s good… just I think people put it up on a pedestal it didn’t really deserve.

It’s not one of the best games ever, no. Not by a long stretch. But the graphics,, the voice acting, the animations and the shooting mechanic are all very satisfying indeed.
It’s the only PS3 game I’ve traded in that I actually miss.
June 4th, 2008 at 11:22 am
I would suspect the reason it got such high praise was the PS3 really needed a AAA title because the other titles were lack luster at best. This game from what I’ve read is good but I can’t put my own opinion on it since I haven’t played it.

Yep, I got Uncharted with my PS3 last week. Finished it on Sunday and loved almost every minute of it. Truly compelling action fest, like being a part of a good Indy movie. Needed less combat and more fun Flashback-style jumpy shit though.

I often think Ratchet & Clank is unfairly ignored, when people discuss exclusive PS3 games. I’m looking forward to running through it a second time.
June 4th, 2008 at 11:41 am
ratchet and clank is on my ‘too buy if i ever have time to play it’
MGS4 is borderline, I still havent forgiven them for sons of patriots

Robo_1: I actually have R&C on my shelf unopened at the moment… waiting for Sony to sort their act out so I can play it without feeling the need for lube or counselling.
June 4th, 2008 at 12:32 pm
Can the game be played without the need for lubricants then????
June 4th, 2008 at 12:37 pm
Not unless you live in Japan or the US.
June 4th, 2008 at 12:38 pm
I’m just gutted I don’t have a DS.
