SCEE development boss has “new remit,” say the little birds

June 4th, 2008 @ 15:33

Videogaming247 has heard talk today that Michael Denny, the SCEE exec in charge of European Studios development, has just been given a “new remit” and is moving into a more global role.

The chatter comes as SCEE announced today that work on Eight Days and The Getaway has been scrapped due to “redistribution of resources and budget”.

We’ve been old that Denny has recently returned from Japan with a wider job role, although details were scant.

Both talk of Denny’s repositioning and the binning of London Studios’ two action games comes following the departure of Phil Harrison and his replacement by Shuhei Yoshida.

SCEE’s been asked about the truth of Denny’s new role, if any, but hasn’t made comment as yet.

  1. Sony could use a good shake-up, if we’re being honest. Clear away all those old Phil cobwebs and start afresh with a clear focus, some new ideas, a DualShock 3 release and a price cut.

    ;-)

  2. It could definitely signal a new tack this, for sure.

  3. Here’s a little theory-me-do.

    Sony cans two big titles.
On the day after those PS3mote rumours reared their ugly heads.
With a studio already well established at providing mainstream casual gaming to a massive audience being put in the slot.

Adding two and two and making 5 d’ya reckon?
