Tri Synergy has confirmed that it is to “discontinue distribution of Limbo of the Lost in both retail and online outlets” after the game was shown to bear striking similarities to Bethesda RPG, Oblivion.

“We have contacted the developer, Majestic, and are anxiously awaiting their response,” the firm said in a press release. “As soon as we know more on this matter we will issue another statement.”

Sharon, MA, May 11th, 2008 – Tri Synergy, Inc. (www.trisynergy.com) would like to publish an official comment regarding recent comparisons of level design and artwork between Majestic Studios’ Limbo of the Lost and Bethesda’s The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion/Eidos Interactive’s Thief: Deadly Shadows.

Tri Synergy is just as shocked as everyone else is by the recent screenshot comparisons. At no point during our dealings with Majestic Studios up until the point that the comparison was first publicly made by a third party did we have any knowledge of these similarities. Additionally, Tri Synergy will discontinue distribution of Limbo of the Lost in both retail and online outlets.

We have contacted the developer, Majestic, and are anxiously awaiting their response. As soon as we know more on this matter we will issue another statement.

More information about Tri Synergy is available from www.trisynergy.com.

  1. Heads are going to roll for this one I reckon.

  2. I did a proper :o when I saw those screens.

  3. Still, it’s a hell of a way to get a lot of people to play your game (if they can find a torrent).

EA have been doing it for years :)

  4. EA “has”. :)

  5. Having Bethesda (and other game companies) on your arse is nothing in comparison to the fact they used footage ripped from the PotC movies.

    Disney will have them killed.

A truly hilarious / bizarre story - I must have missed this when it first came out and now can’t find the original story from those links - has it been pulled or is my internet borked?

  7. The Blue’s News story’s still up, but I think the SI one’s been removed, yeah.

Well, for them, it came to either pissing off the lawyers of Bethesda, or Pierce Brosnan, and they figured that Mr. Skincare would be the safer option!
