June 13th, 2008 @ 14:08

Microsoft just put out three new Fable 2 screens. They’re pretty. So why aren’t we feeling it? After the break.

This or Little Big Planet… I don’t know which will be my game of the year but I know it’s going to be a close one.
Awesome time to be a gamer.

I’m still not entirely sold on the character design, but the environments look great.
If I end up with a 360 then this will definitely be on the list.

I don’t understand it. Maybe I’m dead inside, or something. It just doesn’t “do it” for me at all. And I normally love this sort of thing.

Have you seen the vids pat? I’ll assume yes in which case, yes - you’re dead inside.

Maybe he doesn’t like dogs?

So many people I know are going bonkers for it. I really do get excited about most games. I think it’s the art style.

I’m with pat on this, can’t stand the character designs, I’m guessing its like marmite.
Didnt like the first game either I felt for a game in dev for so long, it seemed rushed. Also the amount of load, WTF?!?!

On a slightly different note. Those screenshots look like they’ve got some strange artifacts that weren’t present in the last bunch we got. Maybe resized from print resolution or something.

PT: Those are straight off the bat. I haven’t processed them at all.

I guess thats what happens when you get closer to release, when certain things need to be scaled back.
June 13th, 2008 at 2:54 pm
Pat: Was thinking more of the source than you. =)
lol… Newbie you’re such an effortless troll. Those aren’t the sort of artifacts that are caused by an engine downgrade.

Newbie: I don’t think the first game helped, you’re right. I wans’t really “into” RPGs when it came out, so hitting bees just made me turn it off. Maybe it’ll be different this time, though.

Yeah, I know. Was just saying
June 13th, 2008 at 3:00 pm
Oh and Pat… I’m still loving the royal “we”.
June 13th, 2008 at 3:43 pm
Why’s that so weird? It’s an age-old convention, that.
June 13th, 2008 at 3:45 pm
Yes, but in this case we know it’s a single person’s opinion.
June 13th, 2008 at 3:45 pm
There’s morriss, too
Although he’s rabid for it, so that doesn’t count. Ah well.
June 13th, 2008 at 3:46 pm
Can’t help it. I don’t like the style/art direction of Fable at all.
Definitely NOT a game for me.

The closer it gets the more excited I become. I loved Fable, flaws and all. Actually, how come we Fable fans always use that term to describe PM’s games. All games are flawed. Fable was great. I guess PM pumped it up too much and so people were more like ‘why doesn’t it have *this* and *that* like he said’ instead of ‘this is a great game’. Load times and lack of being able to go everywhere were it’s only real downside as far as I can remember.
Anyway, I’m sure it will be great. I like the art style a lot. One of the reasons I liked Overlord so much was because the art style was like Fable.
Anyway, I was luke-warm a year ago but now I am really excited about it.

Fable, and especially Fable: The Lost Chapters, was a truly stellar game crippled by the appalling frequency of load screens. The fact Lionhead have the X360 to play with should eliminate this and that fact alone could bump Fable 2 to my GotY…. (next to Prince of Persia, natch).
