World of Warcraft promotes leadership qualities
June 18th, 2008 @ 20:19
According to Danish TV and internet channel, DR Update, American researchers are now saying that World of Warcraft actually promotes leadership qualities amongst it users.
“According to American researchers, World of Warcraft can be used to encourage the kind of qualities that are useful for future leaders,” said the report.
“World of Warcraft is being tested at many large American Universities at the moment which could turn out to be a kind a training camp for the leaders of tomorrow.”
The piece goes on to say that organising groups of 25-40 people at once in order to take down the enemy as quickly and efficiently as possible lends considerable weight to this American initiative.

Not all that surprising, really. It’s quite evident that grouping/raiding may be good for developing certain (social) skills.

Yeah, it’s interesting. It’s good to see something positive for once.

People put stuff about EVE corp management on their CVs quite regularly, I think.

I find getting groups together exhausting I can do it but the amount of people playing solo in this games is appalling. Some nights I spend a good 2 hours just pming people in order to get a group going. Other nights its like asking a brick wall.

Kasai: obviously not the leader-type!

..join a guild?

guilds require a lot of your free time and commitment which I don’t have.

I can’t say I agree I get a lot of enjoyment out of the mmo’s I play but I don’t play it obsessively.

So you’re complaining about people playing solo, yet you’re pretty much a solo player yourself?
June 19th, 2008 at 12:06 am
who says I was complaining just because I don’t want to join a guild doesn’t mean I don’t want to group. I group all the time its were the most fun is had its boring soloing. Groups which for the most part I have to make myself. I might be wrong might just be the server I’m on just an observation I’ve noted while playing wow.

If you join a big guild, there’s no requirements to keep playing, and you always have people to group with.

*Imagines a bunch of WoW players as commanding officers in the armed forces*

They’d be great in battles as long as they had 10 minutes discussing what tactic to use while the enemy just hangs around doing nothing or picking its nose while in plain sight 50 yards away!

I bet enemies have a slightly larger aggro radius in real life.
