Custom soundtracks confirmed for PS3 Firmware 2.40: all games supported?
June 30th, 2008 @ 08:24
PSN chief Eric Lempel said in today’s Firmware 2.40 video walkthrough that custom soundtracks will be supported, and alluded to the fact that all games would support the feature.
Up until now no-one was sure whether the feature would be limited to specific titles, but Lempel made no mention of this in his demonstration with his only disclaimer being, “please bear in mind this is a concept and it may not be what it looks like when we deliver it.”
So there you go.

Interestingly he says in the video that he’s manually turned off the in game music. It looks like the background music doesn’t override the in game stuff, at least in the example he showed.

Always said custom soundtracks would be in this and effect most of the games. See nay-sayers

Newbie: Well… not quite all games, quite a few you can’t manually turn off background music in. Still, it’s nice to see they’ve worked out a way of doing it partially.
I wonder if you can stream the music or it’s just what’s stored on the HDD. It wasn’t clarified.

It would be cool if it had the radio player the PSP has and you get stream internet radio while playing games…
That’ll be cool…
