No Trophies for CoD4, says Infinity Ward
July 3rd, 2008 @ 10:32
Speaking on Infinity Ward’s forums, communications chap Rob Bowling has confirmed that Trophies aren’t going to be added to the PS3 version of Call of Duty 4.
“At this time, we have no plans to patch in Trophy support for Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare for the PS3,” he said. “Much like DualShock rumble addition to the PS3, the support for these new features have come much to late for us to add it to Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare due to our current production schedule.”
There are currently about 3,000 “game x won’t have Trophies” stories doing the rounds, but we thought we’d let you know about this one. Because it’s a big game you may care about.

They didn’t put rumble support in either? It’s pretty much luck-of-the-draw with PS3 games at the minute, isn’t it?

I can understand their reasoning for not doing it. Patches have to be budgeted for and it may be that adding such support for the next patch, if any, might cost too much. Doubly so for a console title where it’ll have to be tested and certified to make sure the new stuff integrates with PSN properly. Rumble could sneak in without too much extra cost though.

And people say that trophies add nothing to games…
It took me ages to get the ‘Mile High’ achievement for COD4, and boy did it feel good when I finally did.
I suppose PS3 owners will never get to know what I’m talking about now, as without the achievement/trophy, I can’t see any compelling reason to finish one of the hardest levels on any game, ever.
