CVG is reporting that the latest issue of PC Gamer UK contains a huge Operation Flashpoint 2 reveal.

The mag says that the tactical shooter is “the most mind-bogglingly vast and mercilessly realistic battlefield gaming has ever known,” adding, “It’s a game being built to exacting specifications by military obsessives, to simulate the authentic behaviour of battle-hardened troops and push PCs to their limits.”

Sounds as though someone likes it.

  1. we can dream, but i’ve had little faith in anything codies have done it ages so i await with caution

  2. This has been in development for so long. It does sound like there’s something worth looking at, so fingers crossed.

  3. Sounds exactly boring.

Remember, it’s “games” as in “fun”.

  4. Heh. I doubt accessibility will be top of the list here :)

  5. Yeah, ’twas the problem with the original OFP, too.

My brother absolutely digs it, but I never understood how exactly crouching across a 3-mile-island for about 2 hours could be found amusing.

But then, I also never enjoyed flight simulators. Or any other kind of simulation.

when does the wii version come out

  7. what concerns me is their making it for the 360 and PS3, now OFP was ported from the PC to the Xbox for OFP:Elite and BIS did a pretty good job of it but i’m concerned it’ll be developed with console gamers in mind and ultimately be a shallower experience

i have Armed Assault (OFP 1.5 made by BIS the makers of OFP who’ve since stopped working with codemasters) fully patched on my machine and while it has its problems but is still a damn good game, BIS are making ArmA 2 now for a late 2009 release so conceivably ArmA 2 could go up against OFP 2 in the charts, lets hope competition breeds excellence from both teams :D
