Yakuza 3 confirmed - no, the other Yakuza 3
July 3rd, 2008 @ 08:19
Joystiq reports that the latest issue of Famitsu has confirmed the existence of Yakuza 3, the latest in Sega’s line of fisticuff-throwin’ Japanese crime simulators.
As series director Toshihiro Nagoshi explained, Ryu ga Gotoku Kenzan! (which was thought to be Yakuza 3) took a step off the path Yakuza 1 and 2 had paved, and therefore, wasn’t an official numbered entry in the series. Yakuza 3, then, leaps back to the future – from Kenzan’s samurais and sword-slinging to canonical Yakuza’s world of organized crime.
No release date – Japanese or otherwise – has been announced for Yakuza 3, but if we ask really nicely, we’re sure Sega will consider releasing Yakuza 3 from its native land.

Yakuza is so brilliant. What a shame no bugger buys it.

Kazuma Kiryu is one of gaming’s all time great protagonists. Like you say, Blerk, it’s just a pity few people know this.

They should do a 360 version this time, too - maximise their audience, like. Quite why this and Valkyria have remained PS3-exclusive, I dunno - everything else from Sega is usually cross-platform. For such niche titles it seems odd to stick to a single machine.
