Noel Gallagher pins violent UK crime on games
July 4th, 2008 @ 20:00
Grief. Oasis star Noel Gallagher reckons rises in violent UK crime can be partially put down to videogames. And bionic death weed. Brilliant.
“People say it’s through violent video games and I guess that’s got something to do with it”, he said. “If kids are sitting up all night smoking super skunk and they become so desensitised to crime because they’re playing these video games, it’s really, really scary.”
We’re pretty sure smoking loads of dope and playing GTA involves just driving into walls for a bit then switching it off and getting the bong out again. A hunch.

I smoked quite a lot of dope between 18 and 22 or so. Probably a fuck of a lot. I don’t remember killing anyone, but then it was good shit!

As I recall, Ecco the dolphin was the game of choice for stoned evenings… not so much stabbing there.

I want to kill people and need drugs and videogames to hold me back.

I bet Noel wishes that he could blame teenage violence and angst on his music. Except it’s so blandly insipid, nonsensical and wailing that it couldn’t inspire a pie into a fat man’s gob.

I love Oasis too. Ah well, I don’t have to like the people in the band to like their music.
