For sure, that's gone. It's already been confirmed that they've binned the stance mechanic. It wouldn't surprise me at all, if it was one of the first things earmarked for destruction, during the design phase.

The MK series really needs to streamline it's combat mechanics, IMHO. If they've chucked out the terrible "three styles" system from Dark Alliance and have something more fluid, a la SoulCalibur/Tekken/DoA, then I'd pick it up for sure.

Another interesting thing, that came out of this week's GTTV, was where Ed Boon states that "You HAVE to have online! We don't have the big arcade experience, anymore; so we have a very elaborate online experience: chatting with people, hooking up and this whole online community place you hang out at" to enhance the multiplayer aspect. This brought Home to mind, to me...

(that can be found in Chapter 3, in the "gameplay features" section)

As far as my anticipation for the game goes, I've moved past the opinion of 'oh, that's probably not going to work' and not being keen to give it a look as a result, to a point where I now...Yeah, I'd be keen to play a demo. I agree with your view though, that it's MK with DC. My chief question mark about it, is whether it'll hold up well, or not, to repeat play.
It looks like good fun, to me. They've got enough there to encourage me to get it, and it's clear that MK still wears the trousers, in this particular relationship - it still plays like a MK game, which is a great plus, and the fights have become better realised.
