Final proof from GameStop: Xbox 360 price drop next week
July 8th, 2008 @ 16:39
Look, it’s happening, OK? From Kotaku:
A GameStop employee has sent us cell pics of the internal announcement for the coming Xbox 360 Pro price drop announcement. They also included pics of the shelf art all of which will go on display on July 13, the day before E3 kicks off with Microsoft’s press conference.
So, while still not official, it seem pretty clear that come Sunday you’ll be able to pick up an Xbox 360 Pro (aka Premium) for a penny shy of $300.
More through there, including pictures and a man shouting, “IT’S HAPPENING.”
Thanks, Blerk.

/crosses fingers for UK price drop even though it’s unlikely
My occasional RRoD has now become a permanent fixture and I want to upgrade to an Elite.

No chance, I reckon. We had everything we’re going to get this year at Easter.

I have to agree - there’s little prospect of Microsoft dropping the Euro price any further.
It’ll be interesting to see how (if?) Sony react to this though. This price cut has been widely trailed and does leave the PS3 - once again - the most expensive machine by a fair margin.

The most interesting thing about this is that it appears to ONLY be the Pro. Why not the arcade too? Is something else afoot?
