July 15th, 2008 @ 20:53
SCEA just confirmed that the 80Gb PS3 is to become the focus of its hardware line-up, and will offer the machine as its primary pack later this year for $399.
The info came as part of the ongoing Sony E3 conference. On, and on, and on…

I get the impression from EG that this 80GB pack is minus backwards compatibility - it’s just a 40GB with a bit more storage. Which sucks.
Anyway, does this mean a discount is in the offering for the 40GB model? And I presume nothing’s been said about Europe yet…

Certainly seems that way. Exactly the same as the 40gb pack, but with twice as much drive. I wonder why, then, he commented on ‘making the transition as easy as possible for PS2 owners’. Weird. I guess it’ll at least have the DS3 packed in now.
No mention of Europe though. As usual.

Idiots. People weren’t buying the 80gb for the extra storage space.

What the blinkering fuck is going on with the site? It’s slower than a ZX81.
