Gearbox’s Pitchford questions Home delays
July 21st, 2008 @ 20:07
Speaking to Videogamer at E3 last week, Gearbox boss Randy Pitchford’s questioned Sony’s constant delaying of Home, saying gamers should have been using the online service by now.
“I don’t understand why I don’t have it yet,” he said. “Shouldn’t we have had it already? When did we first hear about it? A year-and-a-half ago? What’s the deal? I think they’re trying to bite off a lot there and make it really, really complicated, and I agree with some of the intent behind it, but we need a very simple, quick way to do what they’re offering.”

I still don’t get the whole “Home” thing, I guess I’m just to much of a core gamer. But I’m willing to bet that microsoft will release a “home-like” extension to the Xbox experience if the demand is high enough.

Wouldn’t surprise me at all, given what happened at E3. I hope for Sony’s sake the launch is smooth as silk. Just like 2.40.

Which is exactly what the Dashboard Autumn update is doing. I hope for MS sake the launch is smooth as silk. Just like the last two Autumn updates ;).
