Famitsu boss: PS3’s Japanese problems are being resolved
July 22nd, 2008 @ 15:08
Famitsu boss Hirokazu Hamamura has told MCV that he believes issues strangling PS3’s development in Japan are being eradicated, although a price cut is needed this year to boost sales.
“The PS3’s penetration pace has been slower than I expected,” he said. “Its higher price tag and software development difficulties have been major causes for stalling the growth of its installed base. However, these problems are gradually being resolved.
“If the console gets another price cut by the year-end shopping season, I believe its penetration pace will become accelerated.”
A price cut in Europe would be great as well, Sony. Sony?

Man… I just looked up the Japanese prices for the Wii and the PS3.
The Wii is £120 and the PS3 is £180. Why can’t we get prices like that?

I still don’t think it’s the price that’s knobbling the PS3 in Japan.

I think a smaller machine would help.

I think a lot more decent software would help more.
