Retailer cuts 360 price in the UK, “Nothing to do with us,” says Microsoft

Play.com is listing the 20Gb Xbox 360 SKU for £169.99 in the UK, a £30 saving on the RRP and £10 lower than the Amazon.co.uk price.

The move, however, is no indication of anything official from Microsoft, the firm has said.

“That must be their own deal,” a Microsoft UK spokesperson told VG247. “It’s nothing to do with us.”

Speculation has been rife regarding another European drop for the console following US price adjustments at E3 last week.

Thanks, Blerk.

  1. I agree with Psycho, it’s a sign of things to come. Specifically of 60gb things to come.

That was quick. Well done Mr Article Writer.

  3. (y)

60Gb at Leipzig is a given, I reckon.

  4. Play tend to be fairly on the ball about when price cuts are going to happen, I wouldn’t be too surprised to see this be an official clearing stock price cut in the very near future.

    Get a room lovebirds.

  16. You’re just jealous, Psycho!

I’d feel guilty taking games when I’m not likely to have anything to play them on for months yet, pleasant. But I’ll add your name on the ‘to live’ list for when the revolution comes. ;-)

That’s a bloody good bargain, and I agree - the 60GB model is pretty much a dead cert over here once 20gig stocks have run down a bit more.

It’ll still be interesting to see what MS do with the Elite though. 60GB is arguably more than enough storage for most users, so I don’t really see much point in expanding on the 120GB, yet that extra 60GB isn’t really deserving of the price difference. I wonder if it’ll be phased out?

  19. Seems the console itself isn’t the only thing getting an ‘unofficial’ price cut. This is the second time this week I’ve seen big price cuts to the 120gb HDD. Something’s afoot. I can smell it.
