Unreal Engine 4 for 2012-2018, says Capps
July 24th, 2008 @ 20:37
Epic head Mike Capps has given a rough date for the release of Unreal Engine 4 to Gamasutra: you’re going to be waiting a while, from the sound of it.
“We’ve got Unreal [Engine] 4 in production right now… it’s going to be in the next console generation - our rough guess is 2012-2018.”
The developer’s biz dev honcho, Mark Rein, pretty much said all this of the next version of the company’s franchise tech back in April, but new words are always welcome.

XBox 360. November 2005

I get the feeling Mr Capps might have a little more insider info than you or I mortiferus… especially given how they were involved with the 360.
That said, I reckon Nov 2010 if sales don’t pick up and any time up to Nov 2011 if they do. But what do I know?

More insider info than you or me? Lies, damn lies! LOL.
But seriously I cant see MS waiting that long. Mmmmm… 2012 is pretty far away… and DVD-9 is not gonna help matters.
However if they add more storage or somehow increase the number of layers on the 360 media in such a way that is compatible… wel then… but that is a pipe dream.

Doubt storage will be a major issue (they’re already shown themselves to be willing to go multi disc)… sales will though.
