Reeves: PS3 has the best line-up
July 25th, 2008 @ 12:30
Speaking to MCV at E3 last week, SCEE boss David Reeves said today that he believes PS3 has the best line-up based on the platform holder showings at E3 last week.
“I think from what Jack Tretton said, the reaction has been well summarised by Yahoo, who said that in terms of games, the competition have probably got a slightly weaker line–up than PS3,” he said.
“And we obviously agree with that – we think we’ve got title after title after title, not only first party but third party and I think in America they have the advantage of the video downloads service, which came at exactly the right time.
“We’re confident, but not only that we’re confident about the games industry more than anything else. What we should be celebrating is how well the games industry is doing compared to other industries in the last nine months with the current recession worldwide. More and more people are coming in – it’s astounding.”

Come on Reeves… you’re not even trying now. Agreeing with the press / fans? That’s what they did in the E3 conference.

Which PS3 line-up is he talking about? Not the one I saw, obviously.

Atleast he said “the competition have probably got a slightly weaker line–up than PS3″ and even then he was quoting Yahoo, MS would, and have said something along the lines of “WEZ ARE TEH WINNORZ PWN SONY!!!111″

Hes hardly going to say the 360 has the best line-up now is he? Silly mouthpiece.
Its all bollocks until you’re playing it anyway. E3 has generated more hot air than my PS3 playing a DVD.
Less PR bullshit (and/or Home), more games please Sony.

Actually take a look at it and what are the big hitters here? The better stuff in MS conference was more about dashboard updates.
MS - Gears 2, Fable 2, Banjo and a good selection of JRPGs.
Sony - LBP, Ratchet & Clank, KZ2, Resistance 2, Infamous.
For me I’m more looking forward to Resistance 2 and LBP than Gears 2 and Banjo. MS have a much stronger RPG line up though - Sony’s is kinda non-existent in the short term. It’s all about your preference.

By line-up he obviously didn’t mean Xmas line-up - hardly anything in Sony’s conference was dated.
Infamous does look to be like a fun take on Crackdown, though.

It wasn’t a bad lineup. If a couple of games can grab your attention then they’ve done their job.
For me the only stuff that grabbed me was Resistance 2, Killzone 2 (though I’m highly dubious after the original) and LBP. The rest just struck me as average. Apart from MAG (or whatever they decide to call it), which sounds promising and has huge potential, but until you see something resembling gameplay isn’t even in the running.

KZ2 Gameplay vids (Gamersyde has a big 720p one up today) look really nice and smooth - only thing I would comment on is the enemy AI looked very “easy” shall we say. Hopefully that gets some work or is just due to the difficulty setting of the demo.

Show-floor demos are always set to ‘easy’ for the non-specialist press. Someone on the 1Up E3 podcast pointed that out the other day.
