PS3 owners think Live is best

July 26th, 2008 @ 09:37

A Game Informer poll has shown that 74.7 percent of PS3 owners think Xbox Live to be the online service with the best features in comparison with PSN and WiiConnect24.

In other stat results, 71.4 percent of 360 owners think that Live is worth the subscription fee, although only 63 percent of those of you who own all three consoles think the same.

Amazing, huh?

  1. 360 wins again.

  2. Interesting, I disagree. I’ve used both and I prefer PSN. Call it ‘enjoying not being yelled at by 12 year olds everytime I play a game online’.

There is nothing bad about PSN really, it’s just missing a few features XBL has already, like universal voice chat and achievements/trophies in every game.

Gamoc: You know you can turn off voice chat for that “headsetless” PS3 experience right?

  4. @ Gamoc
    I agree!
I have both consoles but clearly prefer PSN over XBL!
Being a “silver-gamer” (48), I also enjoy the more mature audience on PSN.

  5. I just find it hard to believe that 75% of PS3 owners have used Live.

and what is meant by “best features” are they talking about achievements and voice chat or stuff that really matters like reliability?

  6. I’m gonna go ahead and assume that alot of that is also down to expectancy more then actual experience; a person who has only used PSN would, ofcourse, EXSPECT Live to be better seeing as its a paying service…
Having both consoles i dont really see that much difference between them, the features people praise Live for having are really more about the OS then the online service, Live is faster, but its store interface is retarded compaired to the PSN.

  7. I’d love to know how that poll was conducted.

Live has more features, but you have to pay, and since the in-game XMB I haven’t felt the PSN lacking.

  8. If the PSN wasn’t free it’d be as good. But seriously, you just gotta compare the European/American PSN’s with the Japanese one. (including PSS) The Japanese one is looking so much better plus works better and has more features. But Japan is the land of awesomeness so it’s logical.

  9. Thing that you have to pay for has more features than thing that you don’t shocker!

Got both. Live is clearly better featured than PSN. That’s not a matter of opinion it’s more or less fact surely? Why the question warranted a poll I’m not sure. What next “Is the world round or flat?”.

@Gamoc & Quiiick - While I respect you prefer the mature player you find on PSN that’s not really a “feature” as such is it? Looking just at the feature set and not the users which is better?

  10. In other news… A poll taken from statistic researchers have shown that 95% of poll data is usually wrong or at least not accurate enough to be taken seriously.

Seriously though. I have had both and sold my 360 after about 6 months and have two PS3s now. The 360 was better on the chat side IMHO. I don’t see how anyone could seriously argue against that if they have played on both consoles for several months with online play. I still prefer the PS3 though because of all the other online and offline features. Chat still works fine with the PS3. It just isn’t as smooth of an experience IMHO. Chat surely isn’t everything to a game console though. I do hope sony keeps updating things in the future with Chat though.
