lol… seems over for the 360.

I’d like to see how PS3 would sell if it actually had a decent library of games.
Look out for the mental Madden 09 sales next month. I was in the US during the promotion of that game, and it’s absolutely mental. I’ve never seen a game so heavily promoted.

And a price cut.

Those HD console sales are truly, truly terrible compared to the Wii. Poor guys can’t get a break.

Who the fuck is buying all those Wiis? And if Pachter was right when he said they’re stockpiling then, what sort of figures are we going to be looking at in October and November? It’s obscene.

I’ve really no idea how it’s selling like this.
I like the Wii a lot, but I can’t get my head around it. I don’t know why it’s attracting so many sales, given that the game library isn’t great.

Mental.

ecu: It’s not gamers buying the Wii. That’s not a dig at it at all… kudos to Nintendo for expanding the market so well.
August 15th, 2008 at 12:13 am
yeah, but in a few years these Wii kids are going to grow up nicely into those annoying 11-year-olds screaming “VETOVETOVETOVETO”. mmmm… the future looks really bright for us all.
and as for those “senior gamers”, well…. at least they eventually got to try videogames, so i’m happy for them.

I fully expect Microsoft and Sony to steal the new gamers away from Nintendo during the next generation.

I know the term FAD has been thrown around a lot. But I still believe it.
Just from the way people use it, I think it’s a FAD. I don’t think it’s up to the other hardware manufacturers to say that, but I agree with the theory Wii Owners use their Wii once, then never agin.
Atleast until a well marketed peripheral arrives.
But price drop did nothing for 360. Wow.

@patlike
“if Pachter was right …”
Do you not see the problem there? If Pachter was ever right he’ll would freeze over.

Amazed that the predictions were so wrong yet again, and also very surprised that the 360 fire sale didn’t have more of an effect.
Maybe people are more excited by the 60gb 360 than they are about a $50 price cut on the 20gb 360? I guess next month’s figures will be the proof (or otherwise) of that.

Genuinely surprised at this. MS are simply running out of people to sell 360 to, and I have a hunch that it’s now the Blu Ray market which is propping up Sony’s sales.
Still, both consoles have a great Christmas line up on the way, and MS can at least take some comfort with their recent surge of interest in Japan.
Oh yes, and PatcherLOL. Another reminder folks, of just how utterly pointless treating these people’s statements with any degree of weight is.

don’t forget sony sells ps3s to 2 different audiences plus their giving them away free when u buy 1 of their big TVs
August 15th, 2008 at 2:41 pm
O rly?
August 15th, 2008 at 2:44 pm
Would PS3s given away with tellies even count towards the NPDs?
August 15th, 2008 at 2:47 pm
Nope, unless it was a store deal.
August 15th, 2008 at 3:21 pm
Who did not see this one coming? Anytime Patcher swears anything… it goes the reverse. I’m also wondering if MS’s Sept price drop had anything to do with this?
August 15th, 2008 at 3:25 pm
I thought the September price drop remained firmly in the realm of “rumour”?
August 15th, 2008 at 5:07 pm
Blerk, In the US they have applied the new pricing structure to the internal SKU listings in major retailers. September 7th is the day. Quite honestly this is not a rumor, it’s just not official…yet.
August 15th, 2008 at 5:12 pm
I think it fits in the “pretty much guaranteed to happen” category of rumour. You’d have been barking to buy a 20gb when in just over a month you could have got a shiny 60gb for roughly the same price.
August 15th, 2008 at 6:11 pm
U think its not every ps3 is accounted for sony is smart they did the same thing with the ps2 and dvd player.I went into bestbye and the sales clerk told me that the ps3 was the cheapest and best blu-ray player out and he wasn’t talking bout games either. So when it come down 2 games M$ is not worry because the 360 sales alot of games and thats what counts even sony knows that.

Hmmm
