SCEE just confirmed that Ratchet & Clank: Quest for Booty will cost only £10 when it releases for PSN this Thursday.
The game will come out on Blu-ray on September 12, at the same price.
Press release after the link.
Ratchet & Clank™: Quest for Booty available on PLAYSTATION®Network from 21st August
Free your imagination and prepare for plunder with this action-packed Ratchet & Clank PS3™ pirate mini-adventure - and get it before anyone else on PSN
Date/ city: Galleons, pirates, cutlasses – and a hugely powerful omni-wrench: it’s Ratchet and Clank™: Quest for Booty, the swashbuckling new Ratchet & Clank mini-adventure for PLAYSTATION®3, available to download from PLAYSTATION®Network from 21st August. This hilarious follow-up to up to Ratchet & Clank™: Tools of Destruction will take you into a space-age pirate world on a quest to find booty - and Ratchet’s missing shipmate Clank - battling hordes of futuristic enemies on the way.
The comically destructive mini-adventure – available at a wallet-friendly mini-price - challenges you to battle shiploads of deadly enemies, negotiate the treacherous Viper Caverns and survive the dark caves of Hoolefar Island to find the Fulcrum Star, a lost treasure that will point you to Clank’s whereabouts. You’ll mix your own bottles of rum, manipulate shadows, play pirate songs – and you’ll find allies in trusty pirate pal Rusty Pete and Talwyn, who’ll guide you through dark caves and help battle shiploads of deadly enemy troops. Your destiny is a confrontation with the Undead Robotic Pirates and a new archenemy - the evil Captain Angstrom Darkwater, a swaggering, surly buccaneer who was already killed once by Ratchet &Clank nemesis Captain Slag.
Ratchet & Clank: Quest for Booty contains up to five hours of action-packed gameplay in a tiny treasure-chest of an adventure that the entire family will enjoy. If you’re already a fan of the Ratchet & Clank series, you’re bound to love Quest for Booty. If you haven’t yet experienced Ratchet & Clank, it’s the perfect introduction to a whole world of hilarious combat developed by the team at Insomniac Games. Following in the footsteps of nine critically-acclaimed titles, Ratchet & Clank: Quest for Booty is available on Blu-ray Disc later this year; for now, though, the only way to play is to download it from PLAYSTATION®Network – so log on soon, jump aboard, and begin a quest that everyone will love.

Cheap! How long is it, though?

4 hours or something. But that’s how long PoP Sands of time was and that was a full price title.
At 10 pounds I’m definetly going to buy this.

What the hell? Sands of Time was *not* only four hours long!

sweeet

@Blerk: If you played through it again and again you can complete it less then that.

Well, quite - once you know what you’re doing. But you couldn’t possibly clear it in four hours on your first play-through.

True.

What, what? SCEE in making sensible decision shocker?
Loved R & C on PS3 so more is most welcome.

A very smart move. I see this more as a paid-for playable demo for the full game albeit with original content. I can see it driving a lot of purchases for the full game which you can get for just £15 now.

Could be a good method for some new games, have a paid for demo about the same length as this and if it proves popular, do a full retail release.

I never bought R&C: Tools of Destruction because I was unable to play the PSN-demo. The reason for this was the lack of option to invert the vertical-view.
Could some one please confirm/deny the existence of the above mentioned option in the full retail version. TIA!

I was listening to the 1Up Show podcast about this yesterday and the guys on there were saying it’s more like two and a half hours than four.

If you steam through it, I’m sure they’re right, but that’s the great thing about R&C games, there’s usually so much to explore and side games to keep you busy for as long as you want.

If you like R & C then you have to buy this just to complete your collection.
