Wow, that’s quite unexpected. I’ve been saying they were going to release a 160gb for ages and had almost lost hope…glad to see they did.

On the verge of grabbing a PS3, the 80gigger is pretty much out here in the next week, worth waiting until October or is the process for a homegrown drive upgrade pretty straight forward?

Oh, Sony. Everyone’s waiting for you to bring the price down, not put it up again.

Or simply do what I did and replace your 60Gb with a 320Gb HDD.
Nice of them to give people the option, plus the 160Gb will come pre-loaded with gaming stuffs.

They had me doubting my commitment to buy an 80GB on Friday for a moment, but unless they stun everyone and announce the return of PS2 BC for this model, I’m pretty sure it’s not worth waiting another two months (I’ve already waited over a month to get the 80GB instead of the 40GB) for the privilege of spending an extra ~£50 on 80GB more storage and some DLC I probably don’t rely want in the first place.
I can only assume the capacity boost is so that they can promote PlayTV with a bit more conviction…

Have they announced what the DLC will be? Was going to pick up an 80GB in the next month or so, but now I might hold off until they do. Although I really want MGS4.

Not as far as I can see. However, the US version of the bundle has a copy of Uncharted and a voucher for a free download of Pain bundled in. So you can probably expect to get Pain, at least.

Hmm. Not hugely interested in that. I think if it doesn’t include Echochrome and Tekken 5 I’m gonna end up getting the 80GB.
