The first eight minutes of Arika shows HIPPO RUSH
August 27th, 2008 @ 21:04

Oh, sweet Jesus. A game hasn’t made us laugh this much for years. Gamersyde’s posted a movie of the first eight minutes of Afrika, the PS3 game Europe didn’t want.
Seriously, our words are pointless. Watch it right to the end. The terror that woman feels must be indescribable.

If only we knew that this really is more than a “My Wildlife Zoo” screensaver! It does look cool.
Heck, it’s Dr Shepherd from LOST at the basecamp, that’s already reason to import it!

That fucking hippo at the end completely did it for me. I’m buying it.

Yep, there’s definitely more and more reasons to get a PS3 sooner or later, and later is when RE5 is coming!

My particular favourite part was when she swatted those flies, after crouching in the sun for 30 seconds.
Totally Japanese. Right down to the effeminate male medic.

PUD - Yep. All good. I have to own it.

Like Endless Ocean on the Wii I reckon this looks good. It’s an insanely well-researched labour of love that just doesn’t give a shit about what anyone else thinks. Like a big digital version of one of those stupidly fat £30 books filled with wicked animal photography lurking the bottom shelves of a Borders.
Also, you don’t have to blow up a villages only water supply, burn down their much needed crops and cynically pit rival factions against each other to progress through a story so embarrassingly shit and naive it makes the new Rambo look like Citizen Kane. Like Far Cry 2.

id go for far cry 2 over this….thing, anyyyyy day of the year.
Hmm, im tempted to say it looks shit.
but….maybe from a chilled out roaming the plains viewpoint it might be ok. id never play myself personally but i can see how some might go for it. though personally if i wanted to look at wild animals in africa id watch some documentaries, read some books, look up stuff on the web.

Yep I’d do the National Geographic Shabang.
If they’d wanted to do this well, the graphics would have been unparalleld and the detail too. (i want bugs!!!)
But they couldn’t create a streamlined engine unfortunately.

Absolutely!

I still reckon FC2 will be great, nonsensical violence or not.

Might be, but something fresh cannot hurt
It’s just good to not have to run around shooting stuff for a change.

Yeah, I agree. I was actually pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed watching that video. “Man with gun” does have its limit, I guess.

Now now, VG247. Play fair. Here are ALL the latest videos:

I’m actually now quite intrigued after months of videogame-blogger-induced “meh”.
