360 hard drive gets price drop in the US
September 5th, 2008 @ 07:21
On the back of news of a substantial US Xbox 360 price cut yesterday, it looks as though the machine’s hard drive’s been slashed as well.
Both EB and Amazon are listing the 120Gb add-on at $149 now, as opposed to the $179 it was last week.
Sensational. Thanks, Kotaku.

Is this a special drive to make the Elite even worse value? Arcade $199 + 120Gb HDD $149 = $349, Elite = $399. Ok there are some cables, a wireless pad as opposed to a wired one and a headset … but then the arcade comes with a memory card and a load of XBLA games doesn’t it?

It all does seem a bit daft, yep. Seems over for the Elite.

The Arcade has a wireless controller, so the Elite is even worse value. I couldn’t believe that, before the cut, it was more than a PS3.

It’s starting to look a bit pointless. We can’t be the only people that have noticed.

They need to bite the bullet and bundle in wireless with the elite, I reckon. It would look a lot more attractive for the price and stack up better against the PS3.

The elite essentially exists now for the people that have to buy the most expensive version of everything… no matter if it’s actually better or not.
