Incidentally, Pat is pretty certain he knows who I am and morriss has invited me for a drink (he didn’t say which brand of coffee it may be).

But, y’know, it’s great for people to use the internet to express their opinions. I like how other people express their opinion that the opinions of people whose opinions they don’t like the sound of shouldn’t be allowed to express their opinions.

I’m certainly not anonymous: I’m more than happy to meet any of you face to face. In fact, both me and Mike will be at the Eurogamer Expo if any of you fancy a drink that week.

But no, I don’t want VG247 to descend into a fight. That was never the idea.

It’s a shame because Niero is a genuine guy - I interviwed him a couple of years ago and he was really down to earth. Now, through no fault of his own you can’t get hold of him.

I appreciate you need the revenue stream Pat, but please try to ensure that VG247 doesn’t end up like 90% of the VG sites - a hive of 16 year old girls waxing their penile extensions in the fanboy forums.

And by that, I don’t mean pat. It’s just not right to have a go at the person who’s responsible for providing what we have here. He’s our host, after all. It’s no different to going into someone’s house and pissing on the mat.

I’ve always spoken my mind too, I get in no end of trouble for that. And frankly, I’ve always trusted pat. He’s been getting more opinionated lately too, and that’s good because this is his site and he shouldn’t have to be afraid to share his opinion.

I haven’t been here as long as the rest of you, but this has always been a great place for news, and a fun place to post. That’s a rare combination.

As for the game… I don’t really know what to say about it on the whole because shooters don’t really show a lot in videos. They show more in still shots. I felt the same about Legendary too, which is the shooter I’m the most excited about this year.

There was one part that caught my attention though: the organic fires. I commented on this before, the surprise I showed at the grass catching on fire. This time, I actually had to rewind the video to watch it a few times to make sure they weren’t using some kind of cheap trickery.

That’s some kind of procedural and really organic fire there, and it’s clever. Frankly, gaming always taught me that truly organic fire couldn’t exist outside of 2D games, because there were too many factors to consider. But there it is… flames spread across grass, things on the grass catch on fire as they would, and it all looks very believable.

I’m actually very impressed by little things like that, and it’s always been a point of quiet irritation in my mind that fire in past games has been a self-contained thing that puts itself out. That’s not how fire works.

Now I just want to see dynamic water. I want to see a splash when the guy leaps in, a splash that leaves nearby rocks soaked, grasses flattened, flowers happy, and so on.

I’m weird, I know.

The game is just damn great.

not because I care about the advertising here or because of anything to do with the quality of the game…

More likely to do with the fact that I’ll probably be playing FIFA until next month, then there’ll only be one game that I’ll be putting in my 360 from the 7th of November (or possibly the 6th if my pre-order comes early!).

You were suggesting that ubi had bought all comments from here on FC2 rather than just the ad space. If someone questioned your integrity I’m sure you’d react as colourfully. –edit– too slow

I haven’t been looking forward to FC2 that much (don’t know why, I enjoyed the first - maybe getting a little fpsed out), but I do feel my ‘get shiny thing’ sense is beginning to tingle.
